Fundraising Lottery 2013 in aid of Unicef

Allied International site, Castel San Giovanni, Piacenza - 2013-12-20

Over 6,000 euros to Unicef in aid of the Philippine emergency

The 2013 Christmas Dinner, which took place in the unusual surroundings of the new Allied International site in Castel San Giovanni, ended as per tradition with the Unicef Lottery prize draw. The proceeds of this draw have traditionally been used to finance shelters for street children, set up by the Piacenza branch of Unicef in Congo, but this year, following the devastating tornado that struck the Philippines, killing 10,000 people and leaving nearly a million homeless, the funds were earmarked to alleviate the suffering of children living in the group of islands struck by the tragedy.
The response of the great Allied family to this humanitarian appeal was once again prompt and generous, so much so that, for the second consecutive year and despite the on-going period of economic crisis, all the tickets were sold, bringing in record takings of over 6,000 euros.
The sum was presented by the president of Allied International, Valter Alberici, directly to Lidia Pastorini of Unicef, representing the president Gianni Cuminetti, who unfortunately was unable to be present in person.
